SOURCE-LED

Official sources win if anything here differs.

Published times can change with the season

KTEL labels the current web table as a summer timetable, but does not publish an explicit validity range or service-day calendar there. Treat every time as a current publication, not a promise that the same service pattern applies every day.

Useful first journeys

Three plans to understand before you arrive

Santorini is easier by bus when you separate each directional departure and use Fira as the planning point.

Nine destination-named corridors from Fira

These are the corridors in the official timetable checked at launch. No numeric identifiers or unpublished stop sequences have been added.

A source-honest way to travel

Plan in four small checks

The official publication is compact but seasonal. Keep your plan directional and leave room for a source change.

  1. Choose the destination name

KTEL publishes destinations rather than public route numbers. Match Fira with Airport, Akrotiri, Firostefani / Imerovigli, Kamari, Monolithos, Oia, Perissa, Vlychada, or Vourvoulos.

KTEL Thiras / Santorini Public BusesKTEL Thiras / Santorini Public Buses

  2. Read each direction separately

The PDF labels one column “FROM FIRA” and the other from the destination. A paired return value is another departure, not an end-to-end arrival time.

  3. Recheck the official table

The current source is labeled summer and can change at its stable URL. Confirm on the travel day rather than relying on a saved time.

  4. Treat transfers as separate trips

The current network is published around Fira, but KTEL does not guarantee connections in the sources checked. Recheck both departures and allow your own margin.

Airport, port and hub

Arrival connections without invented promises

Questions before you board

Short, scoped answers drawn from the source ledger above.

What route number goes to Oia?

KTEL does not publish a numeric public route ID for this corridor. Look for the destination-named Fira–Oia service and confirm its current directional departure.

Can I buy a ticket from the bus conductor?

Santorini Airport explicitly says tickets for its airport–Fira bus can be bought from the conductor. This guide does not extend that airport-specific statement to every route or payment method.

How much is the bus to Vlychada?

The current official sources conflict: the fare page lists €2.80 and the newer timetable PDF lists €2.70. Confirm the current amount with KTEL before boarding.

Does the “return” column show when the bus arrives?

No. The official PDF labels the paired columns as departures from Fira and departures from the destination. Treat them as separate directional departure lists.

Is there a bus at Athinios ferry port?

The Municipal Port Fund confirms a city-bus departure point at Athinios, and KTEL lists a Fira–Athinios fare. The current timetable PDF checked here does not publish port departure times, so confirm on arrival.
